About us

BISC logoBrussels International Sailing Club (BISC) is about sailing, as simple as that. We are not a formal or commercial club, nor are we all expert sailors. What everyone in the club has in common is that we enjoy messing about in or with boats. That can mean small boat sailing in Holland on summer Sundays or longer small-group cruises, also in Holland, the Channel or further afield.

As a small club we encourage every member to organise some activity, it can be anything as long as it is connected to sailing in some way. As well as sailing activities we have educational evenings where we get someone to talk about a recent trip, or we might have a visit from the Belgian Life Boat Association. In the past we have visited the bridge on a cross-channel ferry, we have even practised getting into a life-raft in a swimming pool (it can be difficult!).

Plus there are informal socials, dinners, slide evenings, perhaps the odd quiz or two. You don’t have to be sailors yourselves, as long as you are willing to learn. Every year we inspire a few people to take things further and start taking courses under the British RYA (Royal Yachting Association).

Membership of the club is open to all who are interested in and enjoy sailing. Membership costs are affordable – see the FAQs page for more information on subscriptions and how to pay. So come and join us. And if there is something sailing-related that you would like to do and we haven’t thought of, then tell us. Everything the club does is run by the members, so if you would like to do something new, suggest it.
